I support everyone's legal right to own guns (no felons and BH issues) for sporting and safety purposes, especially those in the more rural areas of MN. I believe we need to pass stronger legislation on more thorough background checks in hopes to identify those with extensive behavioral health issues and ensure they don't have access to weapons. I also believe that there is no need for what has been identified as "weapons of war". I am a Second Amendment supporter, but not free reign to any and all weapons for any and all people. We see the devastation that can come from any and everyone having access to weapons. Lastly, I believe that we cannot legislate in a way that hinders the rights of the citizens that are law abiding and have a right to own a gun. All we would be doing is ensuring that the law-abiding citizens can't defend themselves against those that couldn't care less about the laws and obtain a weapon anyways.
The top issue I want to address in Congree is the Mental and Behavorial Health Crisis among our children. This has special meaning to me because my family has seen the direct effects of the broken system for children. When a child is trusted to be in the care of an institution and the staff are abusing the children verbally, mentally, and physically on a daily basis, we need to make changes. Our children in need, require safety and security from these harms and far too often they are victimized. We need better background checks for the staff members in these facilities. I have had direct involvement with facilities in GA, MN, AR, and MO and every single location had staff that abused children in some form or fashion. The staff need extensive training on the ways to handle challenged and challenging youth. If we do not help these children early on, their MH/BH will only be exponentially worse as they get older. This will have significant impacts on the burden it will put on our societies. We have to get it right. We don't have a choice.
We have a completely broken immigration system in the United States, and we have had decades of failures from our leaders with this issue. The current system is in crisis, and there is no denying that. I support immigration, but there needs to be processes in place that protect the US citizens and those trying to enter into the US. I would demand that legislators from both sides come together and come up with solutions that are innovative and forward thinking, not politically based. Our citizens and the immigrants are not pawns in this political chess game. We have to create ways which allow pathways to legal citizenship and clean up the court systems to expedite the process for those seeking asylum. Additionally, we need to look at the humanitarian aspect of this crisis and realize that maybe the countries that the immigrants are coming from need our help so that we can keep them from risking their lives traveling for thousands of miles to get to the US. I don't know what the answer is, but I do know that doing nothing and standing back and watching the fighting between the Republicans and the Democrats is not working and will never work.
I support assistance to people of Ukraine, mainly in the form of humanitarian support. I also believe that if the American taxpayers are being asked to fund the war with weapons and other military assets, then there needs to be a formal accountability of those funds. As a nation we cannot continue to virtually solely fund the war efforts in Ukraine. I believe our financial support should be humanitarian and providing a safe emigration process for those directly in harm's way.
What is happening in Gaza to the helpless citizens of Gaza is atrocious. I also believe that what happened on October 7th to the citizens of Israel was atrocious and the Israelis had an obligation to counter, but the killing of civilians cannot continue. The United States has an obligation to protect the helpless citizens of Gaza and insist that Israeli forces cease fire immediately and assist with getting humanitarian aid to those that are starving and dying because they are forced to be there. We cannot stand by and watch citizens of any nation be treated in this way. We are going to see generational impacts from the inhumane living conditions of the people in Gaza.
I absolutely love this question! Yes, I do believe that I can win this election! I am perfectly fine with being the underdog here. I have been the underdog my whole life, why change now? But seriously, I cannot win without your support, and if you don't vote for me because you feel I don't have a chance at winning, you're sealing my fate. Each and every single vote will matter in this race, and you deserve to have your voice heard too. When you vote for me, and I win, we all win! What do you have to lose?
I will be representing all of CD6 and the great majority of us don't have experience in politics. We need representatives in Congress that represent the people not an ideal. If you read my bio on the home page, I am one of you. I have lived in the projects. I purchased food at the corner store with food stamps from the tear-out booklet. I have worked the freezing cold nights on the docks at Yellow Freight (Local 120). I have worked in the elements busting lumber apart because it was frozen together because of the freeze/thaw/freeze weather of MN (another union job). I have lost a business, a home, a vehicle, and more when the economy crashed. I served this great nation, for almost 17 years, that has given me the opportunity to fail and rise up again so many times. I am just one of the great stories out there, and I want others to be able to hear it and know that they too can make a difference.
I believe we are at a point in our legacy that if we don't start making moves to protect our air, water, and farms our children and grandchildren may not be able to enjoy life as we have. There needs to be a path towards zero emissions without damaging our economy and destroying the livelihoods of our workers. If we rush into making wholesale changes without identifying our gaps, we will fail miserably. It needs to be accomplished in a strategic manner with a clear vision of what right looks like in the future with attainable and realistic goals. Investments in our environment are essential for the survival of our planet.
I always looked up to my Uncle Daniel. We were not that far apart in age, so he was like a big brother to me. He was brilliant, funny, charming, and most importantly, down to earth. At a very young age he became the president of a community bank in Wisconsin and was a respected member of his community. I would like to emulate a few characteristics he exhibited. First, he was an amazing family man and dedicated father. Next, I appreciated his work ethic and dedication to success in everything he did. Lastly, his commitment to improving the community that he lived and worked in.
I would like to leave a legacy of being a great family man to my wife, children, and grandchildren. I also want my friends and extended family to think of me as being someone that would give the shirt off his back at any moment they needed me. I want to be remembered for being a person that selflessly served and sacrificed much so others didn't have to. That is the legacy I want to leave.
My favorite book has to be 11-22-63 by Stephen King. The reason I love this book is because I believe it is has some great life lessons. One life lesson that stands out to me the most is that even if we could go back into the past to change a horrible life event, it doesn't guarantee the best outcome for everyone. Sometimes just accepting the worst of things that happen and learning from them is life's best lesson.
Colin Powell! In my opinion he was one of the greatest leaders of the 20th Century. I wish he would have run for President. A true American Hero!
In 2022, the district lines were redrawn. People that were once in the 6th District now may not be and those that were not previously in the 6th District are now in the district. Please click HERE for more information.
To be perfectly honest, I will take any and all support that I can get! If that means volunteering, donations, endorsements from your business or organization (I will interview at your convenience), sharing this site with your networks, or a combination of the aforementioned, I would appreciate anything. We are in the early stages of this journey and need experience in all sorts of areas. Positions that I need assistance with are as follows:
1. A campaign manager
2. Social media promoter
3. Door knockers
4. People to make phone calls
5. People to help with mailings
6. People to help with putting signs out
7. Anything else I may be missing
